Geography Curriculum (Curriculum Designer & Leader: Natalie Gilligan)

We aim to ensure that all pupils:

• develop contextual knowledge of the location of places, seas and oceans, including their defining physical and human characteristics
• understand the processes that give rise to key physical and human geographical features of the world, how these are interdepedent and how they bring about spacial variation and change over time
• use geographical skills to collect, analyse and communicate witha range of data gathered through experiences of fildwork that deepen their understanding of geographical processes
• use geographial skills to interpret a range of sources of geographical information, including maps, diagrams, globes, aerial photoraphs and Geographical Information Systems
• use geographical skills to communicate geographical information in a variety of ways, including through maps and writing at length.

In the EYFS we use the EYFS framework that is structured differently to the national curriculum as it organised across the seven areas of learning rather than a subject area. Please see the Geography LTP which contains Nursery and Reception planning. 

Each unit is accompanied by a Knowledge Mat (click on the curriculum tab). This gives the key learning and vocab that your child is expected to know at the end of the unit.
