Prayer, Liturgy & Worship
The Liturgical Year
The key evets of the liturgical calendar are celebrated across the school year and are done in a variity of ways in order to inspire and debvelop a deep love of God enabling our children to participate in and care for God's world.
As a school community we:
Collective Worship
St Christopher's pupils are actively involved in planning and leading worship, both in class groups and whole school settings. We have dedicated Faith leaders which plan and help in the weekly Collective Worship assemblies. Every week two children from each class deliver a worship assesmbly based on the Wednesday Word. All the children in the class take responsibility for ensuring that there is a calm, meditative atmosphere in the classes. All acts of worship take place in an atmosphere of stillness and reflection, and the children encourage each other to listen to the word of God. The children choose their own music using tradtional and contempory worship music.
Children are encouraged to write their own prayers and this is a skill we explicitley teach just as we teach other genres in English. School has many resources to support the children in creating their own liturgy. The children are also encouraged to use different forms of prayer to enable them to progress in writing prayers of quality.
